Architectural Associate

The Candidate will work directly with the Design Team on conceptual designs, presentations, design development, and production of construction documents as well as collaborate with our construction team to maintain an effective communication during every phase of the projects.

PROJECT ENGINEER

The Project Engineer should direct and coordinate all the activities to be performed during the construction phase to ensure that all project information and performance is above the client standards.

Responsibilities


This Project Engineer should direct and coordinate all the activities to be performed during the construction phase to ensure that all project information and performance is above the client standards.


The Project Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day decisions regarding the project, particularly the supervision of all field construction that includes its organization, planning, compliance with established schedule and budget, and the enforcement of quality control and safety measures. The leadership provided by the PE will contribute substantially to the on-time/on-budget completion of work.


The PE must develop and implement site planning, logistics and procedures for the execution of work; develop and implement quality assurance and control procedures; ensure the work performed complies with all requirements of the contract document and specifications, and verify compliance with established work schedules identifying activities in the critical path including the coordination of scheduled critical materials and equipment for their timely delivery on site.


Your Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience resolving complex technical and design issues to handle multiple projects and tasks.
  • Experience working with Schedules and Budgets
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship management skills

Schedule

  • Monitor progress schedule and establish weekly milestones for field personnel and sub-contractors.
  • Plan all work activities with sub-contractors and ensure a coherent and logical work schedule.
  • Report % Completed in Schedule on a weekly basis.
  • Suggest field logic changes (What if Scenarios)
  • Update the schedule on a bi-weekly basis in order to document any delays or changes that may affect the project delivery time.

 Administration

  • Conduct weekly personnel and subcontractor meetings. Present a Meeting Minute for every meeting for proper filing so it is available for future reference, two (2) days after the meeting at most.
  • Conduct bi-weekly owner's meetings. Present a Meeting Minute for every meeting for proper filing so it is available for future reference, two (2) days after the meeting at most.
  • Document daily activities progress and conditions using our management software on a daily basis.
  • Daily inspection of project to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Advise on estimate precision.
  • Prepare and deliver weekly timesheets to the Accounting Team as established with the office Management.

Procurement

  • Request on-time requisitions of materials and/or resources needed to continue the progress of the project.
  • Coordinate and document deliveries of materials to maintain records of quantity, quality and storage.
  • Prepare and report all miscellaneous expenses reports, including purchases made with Cash, Petty Cash and/or American Express.
  • Recover, approve and deliver to the Project Accounting Clerk on weekly basis all original documents for proper processing. (Invoices, certifications, reports, receipts)
  • Control material deliveries, approve receipts and notify to suppliers and central office of any problems encountered with any deliveries. All these communications should be done in writing.
  • Supervise and ensure proper on-site inventory.

Equipment

  • Supervise proper use of company equipment
  • Request maintenance services
  • Document equipment failure, damage, loss or status

Time

  • Ensure that work is executed as per the established schedule and identify any critical path activity that may affect the project.
  • Monitor work schedules on a daily basis to be able to raise red flags on time and take appropriate corrective actions in order to avoid any delays in future work. It is the responsibility of the PE to maintain the project schedule on time and inform the Supervisor immediately of any situation that may affect the project.
  • Plan all work activities with the subcontractor's representatives to maintain a coherent and logical work schedule, and to avoid interference between the different subcontractor's work activities.
  • Morning huddle with all field crews to plan activities for the day and goals.
  • Supervise and monitor the work performed by the different subcontractors to ensure compliance with the contract schedule. Non-compliance by any subcontractor must be addressed immediately and reported to the Supervisor.


Budget

  • The Project Engineer is responsible for tracking and monitoring the project's established budget and cash flow by maintaining an accurate inventory of the materials and resources (equipment & labor) needed and used on the project. The PE must inform of any expected changes to the established quantities with enough time to be able to make the appropriate adjustments and/or changes to the budget. 
  • On time requisition of materials and resources needed so that the progress of the project is not affected.
  • Coordinate the delivery of such materials and resources so that it is received when needed.
  • Verify all materials and resources received on-site, against a PO or receipt, for quantity and specifications. 
  • Coordinate the installation and use of materials and equipment to prevent misuse, theft, damage and/or shortage. The theft and damage of any material or equipment must be reported immediately.
  • Revise and approve the subcontractor's certifications for payment before sending them to the Supervisor or Accounting Team. It is the PE responsibility to verify work done against work certified. It is important that the PE send all invoices regarding his project to the Accounting Department on a weekly basis for proper revision and payment process.


Quality Control

  • Ensure that work is executed as per relevant building codes, contract's specifications, drawings and company's standards.
  • Daily inspection of work to verify that it is executed as per contract specifications and drawings. The PE is responsible of verifying dimensions daily to be able to raise red flags on time and avoid any delays in future work.
  • Ensure that any required test is performed on time and complies with the quality assurance specified in the contract documents.
  • Supervise compliance with all project specifications by subcontractors.
  • Verify submittals approved by Architect to ensure that materials are installed as per the specifications approved.
